To Tell The Truth

Hey once more. Thanks for coming back. Just a short one today.

How Short?
Axiom: If you have to lie to bolster your cause, your cause is lost.

It might not be right away. It might not be this year. It might not be in your lifetime. But if you rationally decide that the only way to make an argument work is by distortion, then your side is lost, your cause is lost. You are supporting something that may benefit you in the short run but that will eventually crumble and fall.

So you have to ask yourself - if you have to use deception to make something work, why support it in the first place?

Preach it, Brother!

The only problem is when you get people who don't "know" they're lying--or won't acknowledge it. Case in point: Michele Bachmann claims that the founding fathers, "would not rest until slavery was abolished in this country." Yeah, that must be why Lincoln wrote the Emancipation Proclamation--the restless ghost of Jefferson told him to. Is she lying? Is she as gormless as a stunned Sororstitute? Who knows? But SHE doesn't think she's lying. It's a world view issue, we're told. How distorted does your world view have to be before people acknowledge you're actually lying--TO YOURSELF, if no one else.
